What does the term "session duration" mean?

The session duration corresponds to the way Affilae tracks clicks on the same link from the same IP address.

The standard duration is 30 minutes: this means, for example, that if an Internet user clicks 5 times in less than 30 minutes on the same link tracked from the same IP address, only one click will be traced.

The session duration should not be confused with the duration of cookies.

Why this 30 minute duration ?

Generally speaking, we consider that an Internet user rarely spends more than thirty minutes on a website.

Thus, in order to deliver relevant data in terms of conversion rate, this rate being directly linked to clicks in its calculation, we set this duration to thirty minutes as standard.

Please note that the session duration of thirty minutes is also the duration used by Google Analytics.

Would you like to change this session duration? You can make this change directly from the configuration of your programme via "Manage program" > configuration > general settings > modify > session duration.
